The saying above

The saying above is printed on the tee shirts of the staff working at O’Murphy’s Pub. More than just a catchy slogan, it is a way of life and adhered to every day the restaurant is open. Owners Jan and Chet say they are lucky that they have long time staff that are professional and dedicated to making each guest feel at home and comfortable when they come to O’Murphy’s. This is the first thing visitors notice when they come in to eat is the friendly atmosphere.
It was early Friday evening and we eagerly looked forward to another sunny, fabulous Montauk weekend. What better way to start our activities than enjoying dinner at O’Murphy’s Pub, located in town? A popular destination for visitors and locals, it is the place to go when you are hungry for home cooking, generous portions and comfortable surroundings. Look for the Tudor façade and glass windows of this distinct landmark building. You don’t have to travel to Europe to find that old world feel of a continent away. Both the menu selections and ambiance reflect them both at O’Murphy’s! The nice part about re-visits is that the staff is the same. Coming up with the selections are a fine team of chefs, with Shane Heneghen as lead chef and Chefs Tato Estrella, Chef Audrey O’Neill and assisting the trio in the kitchen is Domingo. With Caroline behind the bar and servers, Jackie and Carol, this popular eatery has a fine tuned, friendly, eager to please staff waiting to impress visitors with their top notch service and expertise. It can never be said too often that guests should come hungry because the portions are quite generous, reasonably priced and absolutely delicious!

Although popular for its Irish fare, O’Murphy’s menu is varied and offers a tempting choice of lunch and dinner specials. Tables are continuously filled with patrons streaming in the door, so it is easy to see how lunch and dinnertime there is so popular. They offer “Shepherd’s Pie”, Lamb Stew with fork tender succulent pieces of lamb and classic burgers and a long list of house specialties. The night we had dinner there we tried something different from our usual choices and went with the 16 oz sirloin steak, char grilled, cooked to order and served with tender baby asparagus and mashed potatoes. The price for this amazing dinner was exceptional and the meat was tender, juicy and a great value. In the mood for fish, my husband ordered the grilled fillet of salmon over Caesar salad with balsamic glaze for his entrée. To start the meal, it was a hard choice between all the appetizers, since there are nightly specials and the traditional favorites always there to pick from. We went with the savory lobster cakes with sesame ginger dressing and the stuffed calms, which proved to be a great choice. For larger groups, I’d suggest ordering several appetizers to taste, so not to miss a one!

The menu is extensive, with a lengthy list of lunch and dinner entrees that cover a wide array, including chicken, local fish, pork chops, ribs, steaks and more. More casual fare consists of burgers, sandwiches, salads and pita pockets. What’s special about O’Murphy’s is that you can order from either menu during the dinner hours and not be restricted to complete dinner choices. Don’t pass up a chance to try one of the amazing Martini’s and other bar specials that also makes O’Murphy’s the perfect place to stop in with friends after a busy day. O’Murphy’s also has a children’s menu for “Wee Folk” so families are more than welcome to come by for the hearty home-cooking and great hospitality. They also do take out orders for those on the go and parties for groups. To accompany your meal, there is an extensive selection of Irish and American beers, and a host of other beverages, including a page long list of Martini specialties. Wine is available by the glass or bottle. Try their Guinness on tap or any of the fruit, chocolate, berry, or delectable Martini’s creations, which are perfect for a sizzling summer day.

Absolutely old world cooking, like mom or grandma used to make and it is available right here in the middle of town! Every mouthful felt like home. And this includes the desserts. The knockout selections are not to be missed and when I dine out, dessert is ALWAYS a must! How does Bailey’s Heathbar ice cream cake, sour cream cobble cake or crème bruelee cheesecake sound? These are only a few of the tempting offerings you can end your meal with at O’Murphy’s. Bet you can’t leave without trying one of them! While you are looking for a great meal ender, take a peek at their coffee list. They have an amazing selection including Irish coffee, Dutch coffee and a number of exotic, international concoctions to delight your taste buds.
