Gulls might pester you at the beach for your lunch, but these animals are a critical part of marine ecosystems. In this talk, Kimberly Lato, Ph.D. student, will introduce you to the common gull species found on Long Island, where they nest, what they eat, and where they are going. She will show you GPS tracking data of these birds and discuss how our actions as humans can impact their behavior.
