In Memory of David Grimes

David Grimes, 42, President of Keith Grimes Inc., and a lifelong resident of Montauk, passed away on February 2, 2023, of cancer. David was born in Southampton Hospital on November 28, 1980, to Susan and Keith Grimes of Montauk.

David attended Montauk School and graduated from East Hampton High School. He attended Alfred State College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Technology and Engineering.
David is survived by the love of his life, Brienne Marie Fretto Grimes, his beloved children, Silas, Tucker and Cecelia, his parents, Susan and Keith, his brother Peter and his wife Nicole and their children Lindsey and Callie Grimes. He is also survived by his uncles, aunts and cousins.

David was loved by many relatives and friends. He was never without a smile, he had a great sense of humor, and was always ready to help out his friends. David loved Montauk! He was a 20 year member of the Montauk Fire Department. He was an Ex-Captain and upon his death he was made an Honorary Chief.

David loved fishing, hunting and skiing. He mostly loved the time spent with his wife and children. David adored his children and spent most of his free time with them doing the things he loved. He had the boys fishing on our boat, operating the machines and most recently riding in their go-cart that he bought them! Or just sitting with them watching TV and snuggling with little Cecelia. That’s what made him the happiest, time with them.

“Our family is humbled by the show of love, respect and support from friends, business associates and family following his death. David was clearly loved!”

David was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Montauk. Father Liam McDonald eased the family’s sorrow with his kindness and support.

Keith Grimes and his family would like to thank the following contractors for the honor and respect shown for David in his funeral procession.
