Artist Haim Mizrahi, of East Hampton, and writer Joanne deSimone, of Riverhead, combined their talents at a unique art show and poetry reading held at Ashawagh Hall in Springs the weekend of April 16, 17 and 18. Mizrahi, who is also a writer and the host of the “Hello, Hello” morning show on LTV in East Hampton, had a one-man show of his colorful abstract paintings, called, “In Broad Daylight,” over the three day weekend, with an opening reception on Saturday afternoon. Throughout the weekend, Mizrahi and deSimone also sold copies of their new book of their combined poetry, called “Slipcover,” which is also for sale on Amazon. On Sunday, April 18, they also had a poetry reading of their work, joined by Emily Weitz, of Sag Harbor, who is a former writer for the Sag Harbor Express and Dan’s Papers. Mizrahi has had many shows at Ashawagh Hall, the former Vered Gallery, and other venues. deSimone, who also hosts the LTV show “Notes & Notions From the Writing Desk,” is also the author of several books, including “The Metro Cats,” “Spills From A Quill,” and the most recent, “Inside Out Yoga,” co-authored by Sandra K, a hot yoga instructor and host of the “Cafe!” show on LTV.
