Rest in Peace Ned Gilhooly

Ned Gilhooly

The Schilling and Gilhooly families mourn the passing of Ned Gilhooly, beloved husband of Joanie Schilling; blessed son of the late Joseph and Mickey Gilhooly; loving brother of John and Eileen and brother-in-law of Jim Doody and the late Mary Gilhooly; son-in-law of the late Helen and Jack Schilling; brother-in-law of Helen and Dave O’Neill, and Jack and Edie Schilling; beloved uncle to Teresa Gilhooly, Jacqueline, Eric, and Jack Wagner, Joe and the late Jessica Doody, and the 20+ Schilling, O’Neill, DiMeglio, Critcher, and Richards nieces and nephews who were blessed to call him Uncle Ned.

Born January 22, 1953, Ned was raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn where he met the love of his life, Joanie. They spent the last 44 happy years building a beautiful life together, first in Brooklyn and then in their beloved Montauk. Ned lived in the moment and loved watching beautiful sunsets on the beach with Joanie, taking care of his cherished ‘65 Corvette, and spending time with family and friends. He made those around him feel like old friends, and he brought a smile to the face of everyone he met. He and his wonderful sense of humor will be very missed, but all who loved Ned will always remember and hold on to the good times we shared until we meet again. May he rest in peace.

Visitation was held at CLAVIN FUNERAL HOME, 7722 4th Ave., Brooklyn. Funeral Mass was held at Saint Patrick R.C. Church in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Graveside service to be held in the springtime at Fort Hill Cemetery in Montauk, NY.
