They’re baaaack!!! Who are “they” you ask? Why it’s the snowbirds coming back from Florida to spend another wonderful summer in Montauk’s beautiful hamlet of warm and sunny beach days and cool, clear, nights.
Guitarist and singer Lori Hubbard, pianist Cliff Muoio, choir Director and Organist Lydia Shaternik (who also teaches our medication class) have returned to entertain us. Songs such as John Keeshan’s favorite Edelweiss or Chicky Aster’s You Are My Sunshine brought some tears of joy. Other days, we do some gardening by planting herbs.
When time permits, we’ll have talks on “How Not To Get Scammed.”
March birthday babies were volunteers Barrie, Dan Gillen and Frances Carroll. April babies were former Executive Director Therese Jarmain and volunteer Pamela Melet. Happy Birthday to all.
The Senior Nutrition Center, with Executive Director Anya Ostroff at the helm, is a great place to get to know one’s neighbors and make new friends. There are a lot of activities for the young at heart before and after lunch:
- Tuesdays 1-2pm: Healing Circle and Talk on Nutrition with Margaret
- Wednesdays 11am-12pm: Meditation with Lydia
- Wednesdays 1-2pm: Mahjong
- Thursdays 1-2pm: BINGO! Cards are 2 for 75¢, 4 for $1.50 or 6 for $2. (Players must have lunch at the Center)
- Fridays 1-2pm: Mexican Dominoes
- Scrabble, playing cards, puzzles, books and magazines are always available.
Volunteers will serve seniors 60 years and over a well-balanced meal for $3. You can find us on Facebook and Instagram @mtkseniorcenter. Transportation is available on Tuesdays and Thursday. For more info call 631.324.4443.
A well balance meal, served on real china with real silverware, will be served to those 60 years and over. The fee is $3.00 and everyone is made to feel special. If you have food allergies, Chef Don and Assistant Kaleb will try to accommodate you. One can bring their aide or a guest for lunch.
