Animals of the Month
SKEETER: Skeeter is just a year and a half old and already an old soul. She came to ARF through our Operation Cat program as a kitten and, sadly, has been growing up at the shelter instead of in a home of her own. Curious and clever, Skeeter loves solving puzzles and quietly investigating every corner of her world. She has a gentle, mellow nature that makes her the perfect companion for peaceful afternoons. Though she can be a little shy at first and likes to take her time getting to know new friends, bring out a feather wand and you will see her playful side shine. Once Skeeter trusts you, she is deeply loyal and endlessly sweet. She is ready to trade shelter life for a cozy home where her loving spirit and bright mind can truly blossom.
BO: At four-years-old, Bo is a handsome Hound mix with a playful heart and a serious love of fetch. Throw a toy his way and you will instantly see his joyful, goofy side shine as he happily chases and brings it back for more. Bo walks nicely on a leash, knows his basic commands, and is housetrained, making him an easy addition to the right home. He does best in a calm, adult only environment with a predictable routine and minimal visitors. He takes a simple daily medication to help with anxiety, which keeps him feeling comfortable and secure. With the right person, Bo forms a deep, loyal bond and is ready to settle in and be his very best self.

JOIN ARF HAMPTONS FOR A KITTEN SHOWER ON APRIL 11!
Kitten season is coming, and the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) invites you to help the tiniest felines in need! Join us for a Kitten Shower on Saturday, April 11, from 12 to 2 PM at the ARF Adoption Center, 124 Daniels Hole Road, East Hampton.
This free event is a fun and informative way for animal lovers to prepare for the arrival of newborn kittens on the East End. As spring approaches, shelters like ARF see an influx of kittens needing urgent care, and we need the community’s help to support them.
What to Expect at the Kitten Shower:
- Foster & Care Training – Learn how to foster and care for newborn kittens until they’re ready for adoption.
- Bottle-Feeding Demonstrations – Watch hands-on training at 12:30 and 1:30 PM to help orphaned “bottle babies.”
- Kitten Supply Drive – Bring much-needed supplies from our Kitten Shower Registry Wishlist (available through Amazon).
- Operation Cat Program – Learn how to help community (feral) cats through trapping, spaying/neutering, and care.
- Adoption & Volunteer Opportunities – Sign up to foster, adopt, or support ARF’s lifesaving mission.
- Fundraising Fun – Drop a donation in the Kitty Tip Jar to help kittens in need and suggest a kitten name.
- Kitten Crafts with Shine Studio.
- Adorable Kitten Themed Snacks and Refreshments
Come help gather supplies, learn how to care for bottle babies, and meet a few of our tiniest arrivals. Just like a baby shower, ARF’s Kitten Shower helps to collect the love and supplies our kittens need to thrive during the busiest time of the year. Don’t miss this chance to make a difference for kittens in need! Donations of kitten supplies are greatly appreciated, and all guests can leave a contribution in the Kitty Tip Jar and suggest a kitten name.

About ARF Hamptons: Since 1974, ARF Hamptons has provided care and sanctuary for homeless cats and dogs until loving homes can be found. ARF is a leading animal rescue and adoption center on Long Island. In addition to its rescue and adoption program, ARF operates a pet food pantry, free spay/neuter clinics for feral cats, and year-round dog training and socialization classes.
About Operation Cat: Through a vast network of volunteers Operation Cat (Op Cat) humanely reduces the growing number and needless suffering of homeless, feral and stray cats by using an effective trap/neuter/return strategy (TNR). Volunteer caretakers provide food, water and shelter for over 1,000 cat colonies, ranging in size from two to thirty cats. They trap the cats, bring them to the Adoption Center where they are altered and vaccinated, and then release them back to their colony. One of the cat’s ears is notched to identify it as an altered cat so it is not mistakenly trapped again. Since the program’s inception in 1997, over 35,000 feral cats from Speonk to Montauk and most recently Brookhaven township have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated.
ARF’s Op Cat program offers free spay/neuter surgeries for free-roaming cats trapped in the Towns of East Hampton, Southampton, Shelter Island and Brookhaven.
