Montauk Fire Department Corner

It’s hard to believe that the holiday season is already here. This month, with it comes some sadness, for this will be my final article for the Montauk Sun MFD Corner. Starting January 1st, a new Chief will assume command of the Montauk Fire Department. My past two years as MFD Chief have marked some of the greatest achievements of my life. Following in the footsteps of my father, Ex-Chief Lawrence Franzone, and the other Chiefs before me, my service has been both challenging and an honor. So many things have happened in the past two years– new members, new vehicles and the addition of a fire boat, just to name a few. As I am writing this, I am thinking of all the people I would like to thank, but I realize that there are too many to thank individually. So I will thank you, the Community, for embracing my efforts as an individual and for this Department as a whole. I thank you for your support and I thank the Department for their respect and willingness to help whenever asked. There is no greater reward in life than that of neighbor helping neighbor, and I have had an entire Community to help me.

Happy Holidays to all, and may the coming year be safe and prosperous. Please take the time to thank those who have served, and to appreciate the people who make such a difference in our lives and our well-being. God bless you, and thank you again.
