Montauk Fire Department Corner: May 2025

Hello everyone and welcome to this month’s edition of the Montauk Fire Department Corner. I hope that everyone had a blessed Passover and Easter. I’m sure you’re like me and are looking forward to a beautiful Spring in Montauk.

The Montauk Fire Department was looking good when stepping off in this year’s Montauk Friends of Erin Saint Patrick’s Day parade. The parade was on Sunday, March 30th so, as you can imagine, most other parades had already taken place. This proved to be great for Montauk as the parade had more bands, floats and organizations than usual, and the crowd was larger and full of excitement. As always, we are proud to be the leading Fire Department in the Parade and to support the Montauk Friends of Erin in this annual event.

On Saturday, April 12th the Montauk Fire Department delivered the Easter Bunny to visit with children and parents alike on Montauk Green. The weather was a bit harsh, but the kids, parents and Easter Bunny made it through with flying colors. I’d like to thank the women of the Montauk Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary for helping with this annual event.

On Thursday, April 17th the department hosted an informational meeting for anyone interested in becoming a firefighter or EMT in the Montauk Fire Department. I am happy to say that it was well attended, and I am excited at the prospect of having as many as a dozen new members join our ranks. It’s even more exciting to see the folks who are stepping forward to serve our community of Montauk. If you’re reading this and are interested, or know of anyone who is interested, there is still time to pick up and submit an application. For further information please call (631) 668-5695.

On Friday, May 9th the Montauk Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting a BINGO night in the meeting hall at the fire house. This is the third time that the ladies have put on this fundraiser and, by all accounts, it’s a lot of fun with great prizes. Come down on May 9th and enjoy a fun evening with neighbors and friends.

Thank you for reading and keeping up to date with the Montauk Fire Department. We’ll see you next month.
