Joe Cossentino grew up in Rockville Centre, NY and Montauk, NY. He attended St. Agnes, Molloy, Southside and East Hampton schools. He briefly attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston. He worked most of his life as an engineer on projects including the new American Airlines Terminal at JFK International Airport and the Freedom Tower in NYC.
His true passion though was for creating and performing music. He played piano, guitar and several other instruments, he also sang at an early age in church, a choir at the Kennedy Center in Washington and for Pope John Paul II at Shea Stadium. He has produced many albums of his original songs on his own and with his beloved band Liquid Phase. He was a fixture of the music scene in Montauk and Rockville Centre and sang year after year at numerous music festivals in Montauk and was set to sing at the Montauk Music Festival this May. He dreamed of producing a long version musical movie of his short screenplay.
Joe loved his big family, and, of course, all of his friends which he made everywhere he went. He loved reading calculus and physics books all night long instead of sleeping. He loved Montauk and he loved music. He will be missed by everyone. He is survived by his three wonderful children, Chloe, Amelia and John Cossentino from his marriage to Margaret (Meg) Carousso, his loving father Dr. John J. Cossentino, his eight siblings, Rosalie Carousso (Michael – Ari), Clare Merrick (Tom – Gibson, Mackenzie, Cameron & Rose – Annie & Archie), John T. Cossentino, Dr. Mark J. Cossentino (Priscilla – Mia, Sophia & Giovanni), Matthew Cossentino, Susan Cossentino (Ethan & Emma), Stephen L. Cossentino (John), and Diane Hallock (Mark). He is pre-deceased by his incredible Mother, Margaret Denning Cossentino.
