…Encouraging Young Scientists, in Memory of Long Serving Board Member
CCOM is excited to offer a $1,000 scholarship to a Montauk student whose demonstrated love for our unique environment, and in turn, affected their decision to pursue science or environmental studies after high school.
The scholarship honors Peter Lowenstein, a long-term and much beloved CCOM Board Member. Peter cherished Montauk’s environment and fought hard for many years to ensure it was protected; Peter was particularly dedicated to ensuring and protecting water quality, one of Montauk’s most precious resources. The Peter Lowenstein Memorial Scholarship will continue Peter’s legacy by investing in Montauk’s next generation of environmentalists, particularly important to Peter as a loving father and grandfather.
Student applicants must be full-time Montauk residents in their senior year who are planning to pursue science or environmental studies in college or trade school and must exhibit a commitment to improving the environment through already completed or ongoing volunteer work.
East Hampton High School students must contact the Guidance Office for application instructions. Eligible students enrolled in other local schools may contact CCOM directly for instructions.
