Poetry Corner with Lawrence Spiro: August 2026

I have a friend.  I pray you have one too.

Lawrence Spiro

A friend is someone neither of you will ever reject.

When they act you might not accept

but you will always be there and always respect.

You know them as who they are

no matter distance or time you’re never far.

You feel their joy and soothe their grief

and you’re always there until relief.

You cheer a friend as they go through life

through success and failure and ease and strife.

You taste their tears as they lash out at you

then you turn your cheek and offer a steady view.

You remain silent until words are no more

there are so many things a friend is for.

Home…by Ethan Bell

The walls look different bright and new
But I still remember every crack I knew
The sounds have changed the colors too
Yet something inside still says this is you
It feels familiar but not the same
Like someone gently rearranged my name
I’m learning this home one step at a time
Finding old memories in a new design
