Fudge ‘n’ Stuff

New owner…same great Fudge and lots of other yummy Stuff

Fudge ‘n’ Stuff has been a staple in Montauk for years – actually over 45 years. I remember bringing my kids there each summer from our campsite at Hither Hills to get a special treat, and I’m sure many others have similar memories. However, for the new owner Heather Matthews, the memories go beyond just visiting and getting fudge once a summer.

Heather grew up here in Montauk- she is a true Local. At 14 years old she started working at Fudge ‘n’ Stuff for the previous owner, Jen D’Albora. On and off for 7 years, through high school and college, Heather learned the business. She told me Jen taught her how to make the fudge all those years ago and that when, as the new owner, she first started making it again, “It was like muscle memory. It just came back to me.”

Fudge ‘n’ Stuff was established in 1979 by the Persan family, eventually selling it to Jen who ran it for 33 years. Heather recalls her years working for Jen fondly, making lifelong friends, and enough money to buy her first car and fun adventures…including a trip to France.

Following the difficult loss of her parents, Heather stepped away from her job. As she considered her next chapter, with no thoughts of owning a business, the ad for Fudge ‘n’ Stuff caught her eye. Recognizing it as a serendipitous path, she embraced the chance, remarking, “It was a full circle moment.”

Already excited about her new adventure, the fact that her daughter Sadie is working alongside her makes it that much sweeter. Be sure to stop by to say hi, and of course, get some of the irresistible fudge or other sweet treats, including ice cream!

The store is located at 41 Carl Fisher Plaza, Montauk and is open Wednesday- Monday [closed Tuesday] from 10am-10pm through Labor Day, after which the hours will be scaled back and will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

We wish Heather and her team all the best as they continue the legacy of this beloved Montauk establishment, creating cherished memories for generations to come.
