SOOKIE: Sookie is a 17-year-old sweetheart who recently came to ARF after her owner could no longer care for her. This mellow and easygoing girl is looking for a calm, loving home to spend her golden years. She’s a “chatty cat-thy” with plenty to say, who will happily keep you company while you go about your day. Sookie absolutely adores people and thrives on affection and quality time. She’s great with dogs but would prefer to be your one and only feline. If you are looking for an older companion who still has lots of love (and stories!) to share, Sookie may be your perfect match!
AJAX: Ajax is a gentle, sensitive soul who’s just beginning to discover what kindness feels like. He’s one of 200 dogs recently rescued from commercial breeders in the Midwest. This adorable six-year-old poodle mix has never known love or compassion, and he isn’t quite sure how to handle it all. Ajax needs a special person to help him learn how to trust—and to show him that people aren’t as scary as they might seem. A calm, adult-only home would be best for him to settle in, and a securely fenced yard is a must, as he is a flight risk. He’s already starting to show improvement with ARF staff, and we believe he’ll bond with his person and let his true personality shine in time. Ajax needs a hero to show him what true love feels like…could that be you?
