Happy New Year Everyone!! Hope everyone had a great Holiday Season. If 2026 turns out to be anything like the 2025 fishing season, we are in for more great fishing and fun times. Montauk still holds it’s title as one of the premier fishing destinations of the world. Anglers from all over the planet come to Montauk to experience the great diversity of angling opportunities with numerous species. Lately Montauk has been the destination for the high-end party crowd focusing on who has the most expensive drinks, has the loudest techno music, or who has the most expensive menu! They party all night, sleep till at least noon, then start all over again. News Flash!! You guys & gals are missing out on one of life’s great experiences, going out getting fresh air, viewing marine mammals in their natural habitat, rather than on NatGeo wild, and most importantly catching your own fresh seafood dinner. Gone are the hundreds of people and family’s that used to walk the docks every day to see the boats come in with their catches. Why? There are numerous reasons, but the entrepreneurs who have come to Montauk recently have focused on the high-end Manhattan clientele, creating restaurants with exotic menu’s and night clubs that play the music so loud you can’t even talk.

People used to come to Montauk for the fresh local seafood not some farm raised fish from a faraway country. Live music from our many local artists and the ones who come visit in the summer are always a welcome sight, not digitally altered songs that were perfectly fine before they were altered. As with any business affordability, volume, and delivering a product that the people want with consistency is of utmost importance. Re-inventing the wheel isn’t always the best route to go. Throw in the traffic, three night minimum for a room and fishing regulations all add to the situation.
The new fishing regulations are not out yet, but there’s rumor that stocks on certain species are up and the regulations will be adjusted. It’s way early still, but anyone thinking about going fishing this summer and looking for specific dates, making your reservations early will almost guarantee you get the dates you want.
Wishing everyone a good winter and All the Best for 2026!
