Fishing Montauk with Captain Skip: April 2026

I hope everybody survived the winter. It was a winter to be remembered forever. We’re still waiting on the new regulations for the 2026 season. Hopefully there will be changes for the better. The state of New York has to come to the rescue of our commercial fishermen and the Charter/Party Boat industry. For years now the Charter/Party Boat industry has been listed as recreational. We are not recreational. We don’t do this for fun. We need to be under a commercial ticket because we are engaged in commerce. We are fighting for our lives and the regulations for New York fisheries have always been less than surrounding states. Montauk has always been one of the world’s fishing destinations and will continue to be one of the world’s fishing destinations. That will never change no matter how much different interests try to change that.

Meanwhile, on another note, everybody goes south for the winter to escape the horrible weather. I had an opportunity to put another notch in my Captain’s belt and I went down to North Vero Beach, Florida, and ran Airboat tours on Lake Garcia. If any of you get down that way, you gotta take a ride on an air boat, especially at Lake Garcia…it’s a blast!!! Lots of marsh birds & loads of alligators!!!

The 2026 fishing season is right around the corner so it’s definitely time to get your boats prepped & your fishing reservations made!!
