Gosman’s Sushi Bar

Montauk’s Own Gosman’s Sushi Bar at the Inlet Café…Simply VICTOR-ious!

It would be impossible to visit Montauk without eating at Gosman’s, so it would be terribly remiss of me as a host not to bring my weekend guests to Gosman’s for a great meal. We decided to have sushi at the Inlet Café and Sushi Bar, located on the water below Gosman’s Topside Restaurant. Our ever personable and pleasant sushi chef Victor offers a delectable assortment of fresh sushi, sashimi, rolls, hand rolls, specialty rolls and creative combinations to feast on. We eventually decided on a variety of tuna, yellow tail and salmon sashimi with spicy tuna tartar and the Dancing Dragon Roll, all beautifully presented to us. The Dancing dragon roll was spectacular and by far a favorite with the impressive combination of tuna, avocado on the outside, and pepper encrusted tuna on the inside. Amazing! The generous mound of spicy tuna drizzled with a variety of specialty sauces deemed the tuna tartar just as remarkable.

It is no surprise that our sushi was amazingly fresh as Gosman’s owns their own seafood wholesale and retail outlet where you can watch the boats bringing in your dinner as you wait for a table. An equally pleasing and memorable dining experience at Topside located above the Inlet Café, offers lunch and dinner and a fabulous bar with the best view on the dock. Have a frozen drink at the bar or try a variety of appetizers such as mussels marinara or white wine garlic sauce and feast on large and plump mussels that are well coated in garlic and wine sauce. Baked claims have just the right amount of herbs, and bowls of creamy lobster bisque are well-blended richness with a slight hint of spice. The classic Caesar salad with pepper encrusted tuna and variety of sandwiches including the very popular Lobster roll with large chunks of lobster meat tossed with mayonnaise and finely minced fresh ingredients make a dynamite combination.

We also noticed several large lobsters pass by served with mussels, an ear of corn and Manhattan or New England clam chowder being delivered to different tables. Gosman’s offers 3-1/2 – 4-1/2 lb. lobsters and, when available, 7-8lb lobsters, which will really impress your friends. The lobsters are so fresh, it’s always a good idea to ask what sizes just came in, as they may not be written on the menu. Another example of the authentic, fresh experience you will have when dining at Gosman’s, where you will understand why it is the heart and soul of the East End.
