As you drive out towards Montauk, passing through Bridgehampton, it is easy to spot Deckline of America, LLC.  It is directly across from the huge Bridgehampton National Bank. Owner Donald Mendres has been in business for 26 years, manufacturing teak furniture in Jepara, Indonesia. This area of Indonesia is known for its exquisite teak furniture. When asked how he started his business Mendres said he visited Indonesia and bought teak furniture to ship back to the States.  Friends visiting his home admired the beautiful pieces and asked where he bought it. Then on another vacation to Bali he decided that the teak export business was something he wanted to do. He now has 157 employees in his Jepara, Indonesia factory making stylish quality teak furniture.   His products are shipped all over the world.  Teak is an excellent timber for outdoor furniture and other articles because it is so weather resistant.  It is easy to work with and its dense, natural oils make it highly suitable for outdoor exposure in all kinds of locations.  There is practically no maintenance and lasts a long time. It is also very resistant to termite attacks.  Another factor, Mendres pointed out is that after a year or so being outside is that the teak furniture takes on a silver-grayish color.

Deckline of America, LLC supplies many upscale hotels and resorts such as the Four Seasons, Hyatt Regency, Marriott and Ritz Carlton. These orders are mainly for pool and lounge area pieces. Celebrity clientele are just some of his hundreds of clients both here on the East End and around the globe.   Mendres points out that he manufactures custom private label furniture and is able to offer design services and deals with designers and developers.
