I can’t believe 10 years has passed since the first edition of the Montauk Sun. July 2000 was the beginning of the Sun and now it has grown into a well respected local paper. I often receive compliments arom Sun readers and it’s such a great feeling to have a positive impact on a community that I love.
I started to frequent Montauk in the early 90s with my friend Larry Cooley’s band “BLUU”. They were one of Kenny’s Tipperary Inn’s favorite bands and we would come out for all the holidays. During the summer of 1999, Ed Kenny asked me what I really do for a living. I told him I owned a commercial printing company and graphics business.
Ed asked if I could print a newspaper and I told him I wouldn’t print it at my shop but I could get it done. Ed said “Montauk could use a better paper than what’s out here” and offered to sponsor the new Montauk paper. I jumped at the offer and spent the first summer working out of an RV. It has been an exciting adventure. I’ve made friends that I’ll enjoy for the rest of my life.
The Sun will continue to work for a better Montauk and for its residents. Thank you all for the support and respect you have shown me and The Montauk Sun.
Peace & Love to you all,
Kenny Giustino
