The Montauk Sun Stepped In On...

The social life in the Hamptons is in full gear, polo matches, charity benefits and social events in August have made this summer quite exciting. We reported, as our last issued went into print, interior designers Tony Ingrao and Randy Kemper held an afternoon cocktail party in the lavish gardens of their East Hampton estate. The cocktail party featured a one-time-only expanded performance of the Ligeti Essays, presented by Guild Hall, composed by Gyoregy Ligeti and choreographed by Karole Armitage, the performance entailed vocal and instrumental pieces from composer Ligeti's works. The Ligeti Essays is a twenty-three movement suite of hypnotic poems based on his spellbinding imagination of music. Choreographer Karole Armitage is the Artistic Director of her dance company, Armitage Gone based in New York City.

Southampton Hospital held its 49th annual fundraising gala on the hospital's grounds. The outdoor dinner dance commenced with cocktails followed by a buffet dinner catered by Robbins Wolfe Eventeurs. Sandra McConnell and Melanie Wambold served as chairs. The honorees were Presidential candidate, the Honorable Rudolph W. Giuliani and Judith S. Nathan. Jill Stuart, renowned fashion designer was named the honorary chairmanship. NBC news anchor, Chuck Scarborough served as the master of ceremonies. Summer party attendees danced to the music of Alex Donner under a huge tent that was transformed by the creativity of Tony Urrutia. The event raised $1.65 million and will used to support the Department of Emergency Medicine. Southampton Hospital treats over 28,000 patients yearly from Westhampton to Montauk.


Fashion conscious and social ladies from New York City and Southampton converged at the huge outdoor Super Saturday shopping benefit attended by more than 2,000 well heeled women. Proceeds of the event will benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research. Special guests included Donna Karan, Charla Lawhon and Kelly Ripa. While shoes are usually the hottest items many shoppers were seen running from booth to booth purchasing designer items. Many shoppers were seen hooked on to their cell phones calling their family and friends to reveal their purchases.
The high end art gallery Vered in East Hampton unveiled the latest collection on artists and sculptor Michelle Marie "Winter Trees On Oak Paneled Boxes." The opening night featured Michelle Marie's newest piece, a version of her trademark paintings sculptured in bronze, capturing the essence of stark winter trees with geometric triangles that constantly change position causing both an optical illusion and free movement. Also at Vered Gallery was a showing of a rare collection of 25 unique and unpublished works by Andy Warhol and the gallery's permanent collection by Jackson Pollock, Ross Bleckner, Dan Flavin, David Salle, Man Ray, Louis Nelson, Keith Herring, Picasso and Steven Klein, whose show began on August 20th, After the gallery show, viewers worked their way over to Frank Cilion'e Le Flirt Restaurant and club for dinner on Three Mile Harbor Road. Frances Hayward, fashion designer Jackie Rogers, interior designers Tony Ingrao and Randy Kemper hosted the evening. Michelle Marie is a modern day Renaissance women. She is a wife, mother, painter, musician, gardener, decorator, athlete and philanthropist. She grew up in Atlanta, has lives in Paris and with her husband Jon L. Heinemann. Recently, her work was chosen by Tiffany & Co. Vice-President Robert Ruffino to grace his company's windows on Fifth Avenue. Her collection can be viewed at www.michellemarieart.com
