Prudentail Douglas Elliman Moves
to New, Larger Downtown Montauk Office

While at least five other real estate brokerage firms have shuttered their doors in Montauk over the last three years, market leader Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate is investing in Montauk’s future by moving to larger office space and beefing up its team of talented agents and brokers by almost 30 percent.

According to Sonia Gaviola, managing director and director of sales for the Montauk and Amagansett offices, Prudential recently relocated from its location on The Plaza to a more spacious 600 square-foot office at 752 Montauk Highway (next to Suffolk County Bank and the iconic Plaza Restaurant).

Bridgehampton-based Stelle Architects, known for its award-winning sustainable design principles, designed the new interior space, which features Scandinavian furniture, natural wood floors and a neutral color palette.

In addition to Ms. Gaviola, Prudential’s Montauk team of agents and brokers now includes Juan Chitarroni, Harold Elsis, Kim Fagerland, Frank Fiordaliso, Mary Lappin Marmorowski, Kristin Mallinson, Linda Mallinson, Veronica Montemarano, and Julia Stavola.

“From a real estate standpoint, Montauk has proven to be a solid long-term investment with sales and rentals remaining steady, despite current market conditions. More then ever, Prudential--as New York’s largest real estate services company--is poised to help guide Montauk’s future growth,” said Ms. Gaviola, pointing to Prudential’s Manhattan-to-Montauk market reach, cutting-edge technology, and roster of highly-trained agents and brokers.

Paul Brennan, senior vice president and Hamptons regional manager, agreed that Montauk has untapped real estate potential for future homebuyers and investors.

“While other towns in the Hamptons have experienced a decrease in the median sales price, Montauk’s current median sales price of $915,000 shows a slight increase of 0.5 percent. In Montauk, it’s about location, location, location, and not reduction, reduction, reduction of prices,” he noted, adding that in the luxury market segment, Montauk topped the rest of the Hamptons with one sale of $18 million.

“Buyers, sellers and investors know that Montauk is unlike any other town in the Hamptons. In this laidback seaside community of 4,000, it’s all about the ocean and bay beaches and the natural beauty of the landscape. Everything else is incidental,” said Ms. Gaviola, noting that 60 percent (or roughly 5,000 acres) of the hamlet has been preserved forever as public open space. “That’s why people like J. Crew CEO Mickey Drexler, Jimmy Buffett, Cynthia Nixon and Cynthia Rowley have made Montauk their home. It’s easy to fly under the radar here and just chill.”

Prudential Douglas Elliman is an industry leading full-service real estate brokerage that ranks as the #1 firm in the entire Prudential Network of over 1,900 companies.
With more than 12,000 transactions and $12 billion sales volume yearly, Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate is New York's largest real estate services company, ranking among the Top 4 in the United States.

More than 3,500 sales professionals are based at over 60 offices from Manhattan to Montauk, including Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk, the Hamptons and the North Fork.
