Marlin VI Princess...
Cruising Montauk's Waters

Come Aboard for a Spectacular Sunset Cruise

We love having company visiting us in Montauk because we can share the beauty of the area and the fabulous beaches and water activities. Now we have another attraction to add to our agenda when out of town guests come to visit. Three years in operation offering Sunset Cruises, the Marlin VI Princess is the perfect answer for a fabulous, relaxing way to end the day. Located at Uhlien’s Marina, in the harbor area, there is ample free parking in front of the boat for its guests.

The Sunset Cruise sails from 7pm to 9pm, thereby giving guests the option of having an early dinner or eating after the cruise. We opted to have dinner at home and pack a light snack for the boat trip. While snacks, sodas and some alcoholic beverages are available for sale on board, the Marlin Princess invites its guest to pack their own picnic basket, if they prefer. For our sail, we took a small cooler bag with wine, cheese and some snacks to enjoy during the cruise. Joining us were dear friends, Gudrun and Joachim Bargon, from Bonn, Germany, and my mom, Edna, who lives in Montauk. On board we saw families with toddlers or young children and couples enjoying this romantic sunset adventure. Without a doubt, this sunset cruise is perfect for all ages and the age variation we saw on board can attest to that. The Marlin VI Princess is immaculately clean, roomy and with enough inside and outside seating for a comfortable, pleasurable ride. The reasonable price charged for this sunset cruise makes it one of the best buys we have found, compared to similar rides we have made during out of state vacations.

Greeted by Captain Jamie Quaresimo, guests were fortunate that the night was warm, calm and inviting, just perfect for a sail of this type. Captain Jamie is joined by his partner, Captain Ed Beneduci, who also makes sure the ride is a pleasant one for its passengers. This 82 foot Lydia Yacht can hold 150 passengers and has a heated cabin. Once on board, we went up to the upper deck to get a better view of the scenery we would be passing. Slowly pulling out of the harbor, gliding towards the mouth of the inlet, I was impressed how excited people on shore are to see a boat of this size passing by. Diners at Gosman’s Restaurant waved a greeting in response to the Marlin VI Princess’ horn blowing as we passed by. I must say, one of the nicest parts of the ride was the terrific music that was played over the loudspeaker. “Down by the Sea’, “Don’t Rock the Boat”, and other mellow selections prompted some passengers to dance on the upper deck as we sailed out of the harbor. Later on we learned that Captain Jamie has a friend, who is a professional Deejay that tours Europe, who put together a complete set of CD’s to entertain the Marlin VI Princess guests. It was a great selection and livened up the cruise in a smooth, yet pleasant way, without detracting from the ambiance of the sunset. Although we were sailing from Montauk, this music gave the ride a lovely Caribbean flair.
Seeing the Montauk Lighthouse from waterside is always impressive, but viewing it with a flaming sunset in the background is something else! Cameras clicked and couples gathered to watch the breathtaking ball of fire slowly descend into the sea. The Marlin VI Princess brochure offers the “experience of a spectacular Montauk sunset” and you will find that they truly deliver!
