A Chat with Bonnie Miller
by Ken Giustino

I ran into Bonnie Miller at Nick’s on the Beach while The Lone Sharks jammed on some of the music of the late, great man in black, Johnny Cash. Bonnie is looking for a publisher for her collection of pen & ink and watercolor sketches of yachts, racing, commercial and fishing boats. She has over 200 in her portfolio. I picked out just a few of her watercolors just to give you a flavor of her work. Bonnie is known for her horse sketches from different events such as The Hampton Classic and The Kentucky Derby. She is often asked to sketch tack rooms, stables, pets and families.

Also a designer, Bonnie has designed fashions for major store chains as Lord & Taylors and Bloomingdales. She has also designed privately for numerous celebrities such as Susan Strassberg, Paula Strassberg, Princess Von Brocovon, Artha Franklin and Janis Joplin. You can find her artwork throughout Montauk on restaurant walls, brochures, and even Gosman’s placemats. Only in Montauk can you eat off real artwork. Bonnie is kind enough to allow us to use some of her old time Montauk artwork each month in The Montauk Sun. It should be a real treat for everyone.

Meanwhile, if there is anyone with interest in publishing Bonnie’s boat sketches and watercolors, you can contact her at 212-886-4536 or 917-293-5033.
