Author, Nelson DeMille and The Maze

Born in NYC, Nelson DeMille’s first major novel was By the Rivers of Babylon, published in 1978. Since then, he has 22 NOVELS WRITTEN, 16 BESTSELLING NOVELS, and 7 #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING NOVELS. His latest, The Maze is set on the north fork of LI, and features Detective John Corey whom we first met in his #1 bestseller, Plum Island.

Inspired by, and based on the actual and still unsolved Gilgo Beach murders, The Maze explores a theory which involves an East End ‘Farm-house’ investigative agency cover-up. High power law enforcement and politicians who are involved with this group become the new focus for John Corey as he gets involved assisting Detective Beth Penrose- another connection from Plum Island– with an undercover investigation.

As in the other John Corey, DeMille books, the reader hears his thoughts as he examines situations in his head, deciding how to respond aloud. Corey’s politically incorrect humor, and brilliant and unorthodox investigative techniques makes this book humorously entertaining.

Love triangles, murder, bad cops, prostitutes, exotic dance parties, and sinister motives all add up to a DeMille novel filled with suspenseful twists and turns.

If you’re interested in reading the other John Corey novels, be sure to check out The Book Case, Getaway, Plum Island, The Lions Game, Nightfall, Wildfire, Lion, The Panther, and Radiant Angel. For more information, and all Nelson DeMille books, go to https://nelsondemille.net/.

In each issue of The Montauk Sun, I have a book and/or author highlighted. However, I also welcome submissions from readers. So, if you have an author/book to recommend I’d love to hear about it. Or, do a short review and I’ll add it to the column. If not, I’ll just continue to share some of my favorites.  Please e-mail your ideas to mtksue@gmail.com.
