July 2020 Birthdays

Montauk’s traditional 4th of July fireworks display was cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic COVID-19, but that didn’t stop the July birthday celebrants Cam Pacis, Sharon Sennefelder, William Schmidt and Iris Mitchell from celebrating. My husband, who’s actual birthday is on July 4, together with our black lab and I were pleasantly surprised to find Montauk’s skyline light up almost every night, thanks to the vacationers who came for the three day weekend.

Many watched the wonderful Macy’s surprise firework displays shown on TV that was broadcasted throughout the Big Apple from June 29 up to its July 4th finale, including from popular places such as the Empire State Building and Times Square. The exact times and locations weren’t revealed to the public to prevent crowds from gathering. Those who happened to be at the right place and at the exact moment were lucky.

The Nutrition Center is still presently closed until further notice. Executive Director Sharon Sennefelder was hoping to open soon but due to the increase report of the pandemic we will have to wait and see. In the meantime, the seniors are grateful for the East Hampton meals being delivered to their homes and for the transportation provided for those in need.
